Gravity’s Law, 66 x 360 x 204, 2024

Human bodies float or fall in a vast landscape. At a distance the landscapes resemble panoramic photographs but up close they resolve into hundreds of thousands of curves and shapes. The shapes have a life of their own - moving and expanding, degenerating into a more and more abstract landscape as the piece plays out. The body shapes are generated from 3d models, randomly selected, placed, scaled and rotated, so this piece will never repeat itself.

The visual feel of this piece lands in the contradictory zone between still image and motion picture: it evolves at a pace below the threshold of human perception. As a large scale projection, by the time the viewer takes in an entire frame it is already different. Viewers experience constant subtle change at the tempo one experiences a cloud shadow moving over landscape.
